Desiree’ Bernard is a devoted psychiatric nurse with over 25 years of nursing experience in behavioral health and addiction medicine. Her clinical background spans detoxification units, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and correctional mental health services. She has also worked in acute care hospitals and long-term care facilities, where she provided compassionate support to patients navigating complex psychiatric and medical needs.

Desiree earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and later her Registered Nurse (RN) licensure, serving across multiple levels of care while building a strong foundation in addiction recovery and trauma-informed treatment. Her approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to serve individuals often overlooked or stigmatized in traditional healthcare settings.

Currently pursuing her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree, Desiree is completing her clinical practicum under the direct supervision of licensed providers. Her extensive hands-on experience enables her to approach each client with cultural sensitivity, patience, and insight—especially those managing dual diagnoses, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, or co-occurring trauma.

Desiree is passionate about integrating faith, equity, and community-based healing into her care. Her long-term vision includes creating innovative spaces for Veterans and quadriplegics with psychiatric needs, fostering dignity and wholeness through supportive housing and wraparound care. Desiree believes in educating and empowering her clients, helping them understand their diagnosis and navigate treatment options with clarity and support. During each visit, clients can expect a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to care that values their voice, goals, and lived experience.
